by French & Jupps
‘Son of a Nutcracker’ is a collaboration between Hackney Church Brew Co. and French & Jupps maltings. Including layers French & Jupps’ speciality roasted crystal malts and patent roasted malts with marshmallows, candy, and a generous drizzle of maple syrup for extra Christmassy magic.
A rich, indulgent, and unapologetically festive, this stout is made for sipping by the fire, sharing laughs, and embracing the joy of the season.
What’s In The Glass?
To perfectly capture the sweet and chocolatey profiles of ‘Buddy’s’ favoured foods, we carefully selected the following malts to bring out specific notes:
🌾 Cara Malt: Sweet profiles of caramel and syrup
🌾 Dark Crystal Malt: Dried fruits, nuts and muscovado sugar for a ‘Christmas pudding’ embellishment
🌾 Pale Chocolate Malt: Subtle milk chocolate roast character
🌾 Chocolate Malt: Rich, deep chocolate and espresso notes
🌾 Roasted Barley: A robust, roasty backbone
This rich, indulgent, and unapologetically festive stout boasts roasted notes of chocolate and coffee, beautifully balanced by the sweet additions of Canadian dark Maple Syrup, marshmallows, M&M’s, hand-roasted cocoa beans, and lactose to intensify a creamy mouthfeel.

Arkell’s Brewery and French & Jupps are proud to announce the launch of Ancestry (ABV 3.8%), a brand-new cask ale brewed in collaboration between one of Britain’s oldest family brewers and Great Britain’s oldest maltster.
For generations, French & Jupps roasted malt travelled the Thames and London’s canals and waterways to reach the city’s brewers. It’s where the ‘French’ in French & Jupps originates from, our partnership with barge owner Margaret French back in the 1860s.
