Home to Shepherd Neame, Britain’s Oldest Brewer, this site has witnessed the craft of brewing evolve, consistently producing Kentish ales bursting with character and internationally renowned lagers. Using time-honored techniques and natural ingredients, including mineral water from the town’s aquifer and locally sourced hops, the brewery blends art and science to create award-winning beers. Arkell’s Brewery founded 1843, is owned and run by the same family on the same site, which began as a small farm brewery. Head brewer is Alex Arkell, the 6th generation of the family and takes a deep dive with us on on tradition, technique, and the future of brewing.
